European markets are called to open slightly lower this morning.
In Asia, shares fell overnight on the back of data showing that China’s manufacturing sector contracted in February for the fourth straight month, according to the HSBC flash purchasing managers index.
The Dow Jones industrial average briefly topped 13,000, a level not seen since mid-May 2008, but fell back to roughly 12,966, jumping 16 points for the day, or 0.1%. The S&P 500 added 1 point, or 0.1%. The Nasdaq shed 3 points, or 0.1%.
Germany is set to auction 5 billion euros worth of 2-year bonds at 10.30 GMT.
