US Markets

U.S. stocks ended in the red Thursday as investors digested a mixed batch of corporate earnings results and remained cautious amid lackluster economic data and ongoing debt talks in Greece.

The Dow Jones industrial average dipped 22 points, or 0.2%, the S&P 500 (SPX) lost 8 points, or 0.6%, and the Nasdaq fell 13 points, or 0.5%.

Events Today

Italy will hold an auction of short term bonds on Friday, beginning at 10:00am UK time and the Italian cabinet is due to meet to discuss growth measures aimed at reviving Italy’ struggling economy.

The German Ministry for Finance will release its monthly report for January at 8:00am London time ahead of the US announcement of fourth quarter GDP at 1:30pm UK time.

Corporate releases to watch on Friday include full year results from Spanish lenders Caixabank and Banco de Valencia.
