Stocks recovered from early losses to close mixed Thursday as investors weighed fears about Europe’ debt crisis against upbeat reports on the U.S. economy.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 3 points, or less than 0.1%, to end at 12,415. The S&P 500 (SPX) added 4 points, or 0.3%, to 1,281. The Nasdaq gained 21 points, or 0.8%, to 2,670.
