U.S. stocks closed higher Thursday on upbeat jobs and manufacturing reports, but investors said the market remains nervous about the European debt crisis.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 45 points, or 0.4%, to close at 11,869. The S&P 500 rose 4 points, or 0.3%. The Nasdaq added 2 points, or 0.1%, to 2,541.
Economic data to watch includes EU third quarter foreign trade figures at 10:00am UK time and brewer SABMiller’ acquisition of Foster’ Group will be completed on Friday after Foster’ shareholders approved the deal earlier this month.
