New fears about the fate of the European rescue plan reverberated through stock markets in the United States and around the world Tuesday.
Following European markets, U.S. stocks ended sharply lower across the board. Bank stocks were hit especially hard.

Key corporate date on Wednesday includes German firm healthcare firm Fresnius which reports its third quarter earnings at 6:00 UK, followed by MAN SE at 7:00. UK gold mining firm Randgold Resources also reports at 7:00.
A raft of manufacturing data will be released on Wednesday with France and Germany reporting at 8:50 and 8:55 respectively.
