Employees from the Calamatta Cuschieri Group participated in a blood donation drive on the 9th October 2020. The Mobile Blood Donation unit was stationed outside Calamatta Cuschieri’s Head office in Birkirkara.

This yearly event for the CC Group encourages neighboring businesses to participate.

A large number of people depend on the continued generosity of donors. There is a daily need for blood donations which are essential for many daily hospital interventions ranging from operations to those undergoing chemo therapy and other lifesaving treatments. The Blood Transfusion Service receives an average of 15,000 donations annually, however there is always a need for extra reserves.

Gabie Calamatta, Head of CSR at Calamatta Cuschieri Group said: ‘Although this year’s donation drive was organised during challenging times, our employees were keen to help out. Several new and potential donors came forward for registration, a positive outcome for Calamatta Cuschieri and we can only expect an increase in donor numbers over the next few years. We urge the public to continue donating if they are able to. The nursing and medical staff ensured people’s safety under the current circumstances due to the pandemic, reiterating that it is safe to donate blood despite COVID 19.’

Becoming a donor is simple. Visit the National Blood Transfusion Service with your Maltese identification card. A medical officer will run through a medical screening questionnaire to ensure you are able to donate and then, the donation will follow.

The Calamatta Cuschieri Group pioneered the local financial services industry in 1972. The group currently employs more than 165 people and offers a wide range of services including financial planning, investment advice, life insurance, pensions, savings plans, online trading, wealth management, fund administration and marketing services, among others.
